Remembering the Challenger

January 28, 1986. 25 years.

I remember.

I was in a High School classroom watching the live feed...and continued watching afterwards.

Oddly, my husband and I were reminiscing only just recently about "historical events" throughout our lives.

This was one we remembered...even 25 years later...

I remember.

Fog...

I see it--

Feel it--

Smell it--

Hear it.

I am in it.

Where are you?

Martin Luther King Jr to Me

"...the solid rock of brotherhood."

"...meeting physical force with soul force."

"We cannot walk alone."

"I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together."

"And when this happens, when we allow freedom to ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual, 'Free at last! free at last! thank God Almighty, we are free at last!'"

nuff said.

Complete: Living Room Pillows

Remember my previous post, here, about being 3/4's pillow complete? I am now ALL FOUR complete! :)

The final pillow is done. Complete with fun free-motion quilting...I'll get the hang of it I hope.

After doing this pillow size though...I'm not ready for a WHOLE QUILT. I was a little stressed in the shoulders so will need to do some training for a quilt lol!

The Fog Alley Name

Question: Where did you come up with the name for your blog?

Answer: See picture below. Typical for the area, not the town or state, but the particular area where my house is located. :) Sometimes you could drive only 1/2 mile any direction from our place and there would be no fog!

Runny Nose Month Problem Solver

Just as Jack Frost nips at the tips of the plants in these pics, he also nips at our noses. I have found myself dashing to find something, ANYTHING practically (I won't confess at this time lol), to catch my running nose.

I made some cute little pocket tissue covers to give to my co-workers so we can always have a tissue handy.

Here are several tutorials for making them, I used the first one but look forward to trying the others:

Pocket Tissue Pack, Jennifer from JCasa *handmade via Sew,Mama,Sew! link to site
Quick & Easy Tissue Holder Tutorial, Kim Walus of bitty bits & pieces. link to site
Travel Tissue Holder for Puffs to Go® tissues, Cassi (?) of Bella Dia. link to site

And many more, even crocheted ones are out there!
