[endurance]

...I wish I had more of it when working in my craft room! You know...like a long-distance runner.

Or better yet!...like Yassine Diboun, an Ultra Marathon runner, participating in the 100 MILE San Diego Endurance Run on June 11, 2011! Check out this short video where he shares about the organization he is raising money for and about how he trains:

Or, go to his blog, http://www.runforcamp.blogspot.com/ to follow his progress to June 11th, to donate, or to see other videos!

Good words and encouragement!...I need to "channel" some of that right into my craft room.

[earth day]

a poem by Mary Oliver

Where Does the Dance Begin, Where Does It End?

Don't call this world adorable, or useful, that's not it.
It's frisky, and a theater for more than fair winds.
The eyelash of lightning is neither good nor evil.
The struck tree burns like a pillar of gold.

But the blue rain sinks, straight to the white
feet of the trees
whose mouths open.
Doesn't the wind, turning in circles, invent the dance?
Haven't the flowers moved, slowly, across Asia, then Europe,
until at last, now, they shine
in your own yard?

Don't call this world an explanation, or even an education.

When the Sufi poet whirled, was he looking
outward, to the mountains so solidly there
in a white-capped ring, or was he looking

to the center of everything: the seed, the egg, the idea
that was also there,
beautiful as a thumb
curved and touching the finger, tenderly,
little love-ring,

as he whirled,
oh jug of breath,
in the garden of dust?

[just one star]

Back in March, the 14th to be exact, (yes, this is now April & yes I'm reeaallyy slow at posting) I read Happy Zombie's blogpost. And YAY that I did!

She posted about the JUST ONE STAR program. You can read about it here in this pdf which also gives the star block instructions. Visit the other links that Zombie gave for more inspiration and comments! You still have time if you want to participate!

So I made two star blocks that very day. (really?? yes.) And here they are:

Conservative compared to others, but I still like them :)

Very happy with the points!

Where to mail them to! Wow I even got this far!

hmm..what to do with the leftovers? I'll show you what I did! Promise. :)
I also promise that I will take time to "figure out" better photo taking and uploading options. I got as far as creating a flickr account but now must do a little practicing with the fancy shmancy Canon T1 Camera the old man lets me use sometimes. :)

Remembering the Challenger

January 28, 1986. 25 years.

I remember.

I was in a High School classroom watching the live feed...and continued watching afterwards.

Oddly, my husband and I were reminiscing only just recently about "historical events" throughout our lives.

This was one we remembered...even 25 years later...

I remember.
